A large-scale drone attack targeted Moscow, the Moscow region, and other regions of Russia, with 131 drones reportedly shot down overnight. The Russian Ministry of Defense stated that 73 of these drones were intercepted outside the special military operation zone. The affected regions include Bryansk, Belgorod, Kaluga, Tula, Orel, Kursk, the Moscow region, and the Republic of Crimea.
In the Moscow region, 10 drones were shot down. Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin reported the first drone sighting around 4 a.m. on June 8. Emergency services are currently working at the crash sites.
The drone attacks caused temporary disruptions at Vnukovo and Domodedovo airports. Reception and departure of aircraft were initially suspended, then resumed, before further restrictions were introduced at Domodedovo and Zhukovsky airports after 1 p.m.
A fire erupted at the Azot chemical plant in the Tula region after being struck by UAV debris. According to Governor Dmitry Milyaev, the fire was extinguished, and environmental monitoring showed no excess of pollutants in the air. Two people were reported injured but their lives are not in danger.
Moscow and the Moscow region experienced a second consecutive night of drone attacks. On the night of June 7, nine drones were destroyed over the region, specifically in Zaraysk, Odintsovo, Domodedovo, Solnechnogorsk, and Istra. Two people were injured in the attacks from June 6 to 7.
