Residents are urged to take precautions as wild boars are increasingly venturing near residential areas and roadways during the summer months. Property owners are advised to maintain clean yards and ensure secure fencing to deter these animals from approaching.
The North-Western Department of Rosprirodnadzor issued a reminder on June 3rd regarding the heightened activity of wild boars. The primary reason for this behavior is the animals’ search for food as they build up fat reserves during the summer season. Open and cultivated fields, often near dacha plots, can attract wild boars.
To minimize the likelihood of wild animals approaching homes, keeping the surrounding area clean is essential. Dacha owners whose properties border the forest should ensure they have reliable fencing in place.
In the event of an encounter with a wild boar, it is crucial to move away to a safe distance. Motorists should also exercise caution, as wild boars may cross roads in groups due to their established migration routes.
