Increased Success in the 2025 Unified State Exam in Advanced Mathematics

More students scored 60 points or higher on the Unified State Exam (EGE) in advanced mathematics this year. Approximately 185,000 schoolchildren achieved this benchmark, representing a 10.8% increase compared to 2024.

The number of students taking the advanced mathematics exam also rose to 305,000 in 2025. 60.7% of these students surpassed the 60-point threshold.

While participation and higher scores increased, the average score for the exam saw a slight decrease. The average score dropped by approximately 0.5 points, from 62.63 in 2024 to 62.05 in 2025.

The percentage of students failing to reach the minimum threshold decreased from 6.6% in 2024 to 4.8% in 2025. Rosobrnadzor Head Anzor Muzaev stated that the EGE tasks remained largely consistent with the previous year, allowing for a direct comparison of results.

Several subjects, including chemistry and history, saw increased participation and improved average scores. Conversely, fewer students opted for the literature exam, although the average score in literature saw a slight increase.

In St. Petersburg, advanced mathematics was chosen by 19,599 students, representing 61% of graduates. This figure is 15% higher than the national average.

Despite the overall positive trends, some test-takers found this year’s advanced mathematics exam more challenging. Some claimed that specialized preparation beyond the standard school curriculum was necessary to solve certain tasks. Others felt that rote memorization was insufficient and that a deeper understanding of the concepts was required.
