The Novosibirsk region is implementing a comprehensive program aimed at increasing birth rates, with regional authorities setting targets for the number of newborns through 2030.
The program includes measures such as caring for reproductive health, reducing abortions, supporting families, and improving housing conditions.
Authorities presented a program to help the Novosibirsk region achieve targets for the number of newborns in the short term until 2027, and in the long term until 2030.
The region is also focused on strengthening the family unit and promoting traditional values.
The authorities are recording positive developments in reducing the number of abortions, with figures dropping from 10,042 in 2023 to 9,116 in 2024.
New support measures for large families include an annual payment of 4,000 rubles per child for school supplies and guaranteed free meals for students from large families in state and municipal schools.
The authorities expect the total fertility rate in the Novosibirsk region to increase from 1.462 in 2024 to 1.496 in 2025 and 1.509 in 2026.
From 2026, birth rates will be included in the KPI of regional heads.
