Igor Leitland, 56, has been detained and charged with the murder of a gang member that occurred on November 23, 1994, in Yekaterinburg. The Leninsky District Court made a decision regarding his preventive measure.

Leitland is accused of fatally shooting Roman B., a member of the “Center” organized crime group, in the entrance of a residential building on Voikova Street.

The suspect was apprehended on the night of June 5 in a city hotel, bringing the 30-year-old cold case to a head.

In court, the prosecution sought Leitland’s arrest, while his defense attorney requested a non-custodial preventive measure, citing his client’s responsibility for his 90-year-old mother. The defense emphasized Leitland’s stable life, including his employment as director of LLC UK “Autoparking,” military registration, and three adult children, as well as positive references from his residence, workplace, and relatives, stating that he had no intention of fleeing.

The court ultimately denied the investigator’s request and released Leitland from custody in the courtroom. Law enforcement is currently investigating Leitland’s potential involvement in other crimes.
