Igor Leitland, 56, the director of LLC UK “Autoparking,” has been detained in Yekaterinburg in connection with the 1994 murder of Roman B., a member of the “Center” organized crime group. The crime occurred on November 23, 1994, in the entrance of a building on Voikova Street.
Leitland is accused of fatally shooting Roman B. with a Tula Tokarev pistol “out of hooligan motives, for a trivial reason.” The case was initially opened 30 years ago under the Soviet Criminal Code for premeditated murder under aggravating circumstances.
Alexander Shulga, senior assistant to the head of the regional Investigative Committee of Russia, stated that the accused was identified through witness testimonies and on-site verification.
The suspect was apprehended on the night of June 5, 2024, in the Sverdlovsk region, near the Koltsovsky highway, during a joint operation by the police and the FSB. According to Valery Gorelykh, head of the press service of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Sverdlovsk region, Leitland attempted to evade authorities when the investigation intensified.
The Investigative Committee, criminal investigation officers, and the FSB collaborated to solve the crime. Authorities are currently investigating Leitland’s potential involvement in other offenses.
