High Prices Anger Passengers at Yekaterinburg’s Koltsovo Airport

Passengers at Yekaterinburg’s Koltsovo Airport are expressing outrage over high prices for food and drinks. Complaints have surfaced regarding the cost of basic items such as water and coffee, with some travelers comparing the prices unfavorably to those at other major airports.

The Sverdlovsk Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) launched an investigation into the pricing of goods at Koltsovo Airport in response to numerous passenger complaints. The FAS promised to check prices, especially for water, in stores and cafes within the airport. The results of this inspection have not yet been published.

A survey of prices at various establishments within the airport revealed significant costs for even simple items. In terminal A’s “My Story” cafe, breakfast options like porridge or omelets cost 440 rubles. A full lunch could easily exceed 2200 rubles per person. In a shop selling travel goods, a half-liter bottle of water can cost between 150 and 220 rubles.

Coffee prices are also notably high. At “Shokoladnitsa,” an Americano costs 490 rubles, while a small cappuccino is the same price. Spaten Haus charges 955 rubles for a “Pepperoni” pizza. Even water is expensive, with a half-liter bottle costing 275 rubles. “Matryoshka” offers slightly cheaper coffee, but prices are still considered high.

In terminal B, prices remain elevated. A bottle of water from vending machines costs 160 rubles, while mineral water in another outlet is priced at 220 rubles. At Bake up, an Americano costs 329 rubles, and tea is priced at 449 rubles.

The press service of Koltsovo Airport stated that the airport administration does not set prices in cafes and shops. Prices are determined by the retail outlets themselves.
