Hermitage Museum to Host “Jazz Promenade in the Rhythms of Art Deco”

The Hermitage Museum will host an evening and nighttime event, “Jazz Promenade in the Rhythms of Art Deco,” from June 21st to August 23rd, immersing visitors in the 1920s and 30s. The event will feature jazz music, dance, cinema, and fashion from the Art Deco era.

The “Jazz Promenade” continues the Hermitage Theater-Laboratory’s experimental projects. The program begins with jazz music at the entrance on Shuvalovsky Proezd. Attendees will then visit the “Packaged Dreams” exhibition, showcasing women’s fashion from the 1920s-30s and the Art Deco style. The museum will be closed to the general public during these exclusive evening viewings.

Following the exhibition, a theatrical and musical performance will take place. Professional dancers from the International Ball Association, accompanied by the Jolly Pancakers jazz band, will tell stories through dance. The audience will also learn about important musical and dance styles of the period, including the foxtrot, Argentine tango, and lindy hop.

The premiere is scheduled for June 21st, with subsequent sessions on July 12th, 19th, and 26th, and August 9th, 16th, and 23rd, at 8:30 PM and 10:30 PM. Each session will last for one and a half hours.

Entrance to the museum will be from the Shuvalovsky Proezd side (Millionnaya Street, 37 / Dvortsovaya Embankment, 36), through the Small Hermitage entrance. More details are available on the Hermitage Museum’s website.
