St. Petersburg is bracing for a day of severe weather on June 19, with heavy rains and strong winds expected to impact the city. The Ministry of Emergency Situations has issued a warning, urging residents to take precautions.
According to Roshydrometcenter, heavy rains are predicted from 9 am to 9 pm. In the evening, strong winds are expected to develop, with gusts reaching 15-18 meters per second.
Due to the anticipated hazardous weather, a “yellow” level of danger has been declared by the St. Petersburg government.
Motorists are advised to exercise extreme caution and, if possible, avoid driving personal vehicles due to the increased risk of accidents. Pedestrians are also urged to be careful while moving around the city.
Meteorologist Alexander Kolesov warns that the weather will deteriorate further at night, with precipitation potentially turning into heavy rains accompanied by thunderstorms in some areas. The adverse weather conditions are expected to persist throughout the entire day of June 19.
A forecast indicates improved weather conditions beginning on June 20.
