Head of Kazan Station in Moscow Placed Under House Arrest

Igor Chernikov, the head of the Kazan Station in Moscow, has been placed under house arrest on charges of acting as an intermediary in a bribery case. The Dorogomilovsky District Court of Moscow made the ruling on Tuesday, June 3, following a request from investigators.

Chernikov, who has held his position since 2023, is now facing potential imprisonment of seven to twelve years under Part 4 of Article 291 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (Bribery).

According to investigators, a private businessman allegedly paid 1.3 million rubles to station leaders for general patronage of his business activities within the Kazan Station’s territory.

Maxim Beletsky, the deputy head of the station, was also placed under house arrest in December 2024 in connection with the same bribery case.

Notably, this is not the first instance of corruption allegations at the Kazan Station. Sergei Donetsky, the previous head, was sentenced in 2017 to two years in a strict regime colony and fined 2.5 million rubles for accepting bribes totaling over 3 million rubles from tenants of the station area.
