Gorskaya Marina Ceases Yacht Mooring Services Due to Reconstruction

The Gorskaya marina in St. Petersburg has ceased providing yacht mooring services due to an upcoming reconstruction project to create a recreational cluster. The announcement was made on June 4th, with vessel owners instructed to remove their yachts by June 10, 2025.

The Gorskaya Yacht Club cited a city order due to changes in water access as the reason for the closure. The land lease agreement remains valid, but the club does not plan to resume mooring services.

About 30 yachts were affected by the closure, and some have already been removed from the water. The reconstruction is part of a larger project to create the “St. Petersburg Marina” recreational cluster, estimated to cost 250 billion rubles.

The St. Petersburg Sailing Union confirmed that a lease agreement for the mooring wall in Gorskaya was concluded with the St. Petersburg Yacht Club in May 2025. The infrastructure was transferred for reconstruction, prohibiting commercial use.

While commercial yacht services are ceasing, the sailing school in Gorskaya will be allowed to continue its activities for sports purposes until construction begins. The relocation of yachtsmen from Petrovskaya Kosa to Gorskaya is also possible, but only for athletes.

The “St. Petersburg Marina” project includes the construction of hotels, public spaces, a yacht club, an embankment, park spaces, and a public and business zone. The first stage, expected to be completed in 2026, involves building a yachting school and a yacht club. The second stage, planned for 2030, will focus on creating public spaces like embankments and a park area along the Gulf of Finland.

The River Yacht Club on Petrovskaya Kosa, which was also ordered to vacate the territory, is attempting to appeal the decision. Other yacht clubs in St. Petersburg, such as the Neva Yacht Club and the Hercules club, have also faced relocation due to reconstruction or construction projects.
