Gazprom Announces Milestone of 100 Billion Cubic Meters of Gas Delivered to China via Power of Siberia Pipeline

Gazprom has announced that it has supplied 100 billion cubic meters of natural gas to China through the Power of Siberia pipeline. This milestone was reported by Interfax on May 30, citing the corporation.

The deliveries began in 2019 under a long-term agreement between Gazprom and CNPC.

Alexey Miller, head of Gazprom, stated that this marks the initial 100 billion cubic meters delivered to China out of a total of over one trillion cubic meters stipulated in what he described as the largest gas contract in the history of the industry.

Miller added that the contract extends until mid-2049 and that deliveries via the second pipeline route, the Far Eastern one, are scheduled to commence in 2027.

Gazprom reports that since 2020, the annual delivery volumes have surpassed the annual obligations outlined in the contract.

By the end of 2024, Gazprom’s pipeline supplies had increased by more than 35 percent, covering approximately a quarter of the additional gas demand in China.
