Zaur Gurtiev, the First Deputy Head of Stavropol, was laid to rest at the Krestovozdvizhenskoye Cemetery on May 31. The funeral followed his death on the night of May 29, caused by an explosion near his residence on Chekhov Street in Stavropol, which also resulted in the death of a neighbor.

The funeral service for Gurtiev was held at the Church of Sergius of Radonezh. Attendees included relatives, colleagues, military personnel, government representatives, and citizens paying their respects.

The circumstances surrounding Gurtiev’s death are under investigation. A criminal case has been opened, and authorities, including the Investigative Committee, are considering the possibility of a terrorist attack. Footage of the detonation has been released.

Prior to his death, Gurtiev was slated to assume the role of Deputy Minister of Housing and Communal Services of the Stavropol Krai regional administration, according to the Governor of Stavropol Krai, Vladimir Vladimirov.
