Over 20 billion rubles are planned to be attracted from extra-budgetary sources for the construction of a new yacht club on Petrovsky Island in St. Petersburg. This information is contained in documents attached to the draft decree on amending the state program for the development of physical culture and sports.
The total cost of the construction is estimated at 21.2 billion rubles. Of this amount, 20.9 billion rubles are planned to be raised from extra-budgetary sources for construction and installation works between 2027 and 2029.
The project is based on instructions from Russian President Vladimir Putin from 2022 and a letter from Vice Governor Nikolai Linchenko dated March 21, 2025. The approved concept includes a “sports and recreation cluster” with various facilities.
The complex will feature a training base for the Interuniversity Student Yacht Club, a sports training base for the St. Petersburg State Educational Institution “Olympic Hopes”, a museum, a teaching and methodological building, a boathouse, and a multifunctional complex with a boathouse, along with landscaping elements.
The city authorities have confirmed that the territory of the yacht club will remain city property, and the city will create the infrastructure itself. A concession with a private partner is not being considered.
Currently based yachtsmen on Petrovskaya Kosa have requested that they not be evicted and that the reconstruction be carried out in stages without stopping operations. They were offered an alternative location at the yacht club in Gorskaya, but the marina there no longer provides commercial yacht parking services.
