Former Yekaterinburg Police Chief Vladimir Pilyushenko Found Dead

Vladimir Pilyushenko, the former head of police department No. 11 in Yekaterinburg, has died. He was found in his apartment. Pilyushenko held the position for nearly a decade before retiring in 2020.

Preliminary reports suggest that his death was a suicide, with no evidence of foul play.

A friend and retired Ministry of Internal Affairs officer expressed surprise at Pilyushenko’s passing, noting that he appeared to be financially stable and had no known health or family issues. The friend also mentioned Pilyushenko’s career path, starting as an operative focusing on car theft before quickly rising to become a chief in a challenging district.

After his retirement, Pilyushenko successfully sued the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for unpaid vacation time, recovering 84,000 rubles in monetary allowance and 10,000 rubles for moral damages in 2021.

Both the Investigative Committee and the Ministry of Internal Affairs have declined to comment on the situation. The E1.RU editorial staff extended their condolences to Pilyushenko’s family and friends.
