Lieutenant General Vladimir Panov, former Deputy Chief of Logistics of the Internal Troops, has been detained and accused of accepting a large-scale bribe. The Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation reports that during searches of his residence, investigators seized over 21 million rubles and identified more than 40 real estate properties registered to Panov and his family members.
The investigation alleges that between 2012 and 2014, Panov received a bribe of 37 million rubles through an intermediary. The bribe was reportedly paid by Sergei Chechko, the General Director of LLC “SK “Remstroytorg,” and his business partner, Anton Sibil.
In exchange, Panov allegedly facilitated the conclusion and execution of state contracts for the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia. He also purportedly provided general patronage and refrained from taking action against the company for any failure to meet its obligations.
At the request of the investigator, the court has ordered Panov to be detained as a measure of restraint.
