Former Bankruptcy Trustee of NIITO Clinic Placed Under House Arrest

Maria Emelyanova, the former bankruptcy trustee of the NIITO Clinic, has been placed under house arrest until July 20, 2025, by the Central District Court of Novosibirsk. She is charged with a crime under Part 4 of Article 160 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, specifically appropriation or embezzlement on an especially large scale, according to reports from the courts of general jurisdiction of the region.

The investigator had requested that Emelyanova be detained, but the court denied this request.

The NIITO Clinic was declared bankrupt in June 2023. At the end of 2024, the organization reported revenue of 524 million rubles but sustained losses of 77 million rubles. Dmitry Bogdanov is the current bankruptcy trustee.

Emelyanova’s detention by security forces was reported on May 28. Prior to her arrest, searches were conducted in the clinic’s offices in Novosibirsk. One of the former founders of the organization is listed as FGU NIITO of the Ministry of Health and Social Development of Russia.
