The “Birth of Scale” exhibition at the National Center “Russia” is set to conclude on July 30, after attracting tens of thousands of visitors from around the world since its opening on March 1. Leading architects from Egypt, India, Iran, and South Africa recently visited the exposition on the eve of its closing.
The foreign experts explored the “Journey Through Russia” project and participated in professional discussions. These visits underscore the importance of cultural and professional exchange in the field of architecture, strengthening ties between architectural schools across different nations.
Walid Arafa, founder and director of Dar Arafa Architecture, highlighted the significance of such exchanges, describing Russia as a diverse country with numerous cultures often unknown to those from his region. He characterized the exhibition as showcasing “diversity” and expressed his intention to share his vision of architecture’s future and its prospects for 2050 at the panel discussions on July 30. Arafa also noted the cultural connections between Russia and Egypt, evident in the “Journey Through Russia” exposition, such as similar woven patterns and symbolism found in both cultures.
Nadia Tromp, Director-Founder of Ntsika Architects, focused on the formation of the country’s future image presented at the exhibition. She expressed interest in how culture, particularly the diverse cultures of Russia, are represented and how traditional culture transitions into modernity and the future. Tromp also reflected on the section dedicated to sports heroes, prompting consideration of the fate of large sports facilities after major events and how these spaces can continue to be utilized.
