Passengers at Moscow’s Komsomolskaya metro station on the Sokolnicheskaya line experienced flooding on Sunday, June 8th. Water was seen pouring from the ceiling in the underground vestibule, specifically affecting the “balconies” above the platform used for transfers.
The area has been cordoned off with warning tape while clean-up efforts are underway.
According to the Moscow Department of Transportation, the incident is a “minor inflow of water” from the vault of the station, and workers are actively addressing the situation.
Train traffic remains unaffected by the flooding.
Recent heavy rainfall with thunder and lightning in the capital may have contributed to the incident.
