Floating Hotel in Saint Petersburg Relocates from Usual Mooring Location

The Aqua Hostel, a floating hotel in St. Petersburg, has been moved from its usual location near the Petrovsky Stadium. According to an eyewitness report, the floating pier was towed away from the Zhdanovskaya Embankment on Saturday, June 7th.

This relocation follows a period of scrutiny for the Aqua Hostel. The transport prosecutor’s office has repeatedly investigated the hostel over the past few years.

In February of last year, the hostel sustained hull damage due to ice compression, requiring the rescue of dozens of tourists. More recently, less than three months ago, an unidentified liquid leaked from the floating structure into the Zhdanovka River. At the time of the spill, there were no guests on board.

Currently, it is impossible to reserve rooms at the hostel, and the phone numbers listed on its website are unresponsive.

The potential eviction of the Aqua Hostel from the pier has been previously reported, linked to the upcoming large-scale reconstruction of the Petrovsky Stadium. The area surrounding the stadium is slated for transformation into a cultural and sports cluster, hosting various sporting events and concerts.
