A seven-year-old girl is in intensive care after being struck by a car in the Pushkinsky district of St. Petersburg. The driver fled the scene and was later located by authorities.
The incident took place on Shkolnaya Street in Shushary, within a residential courtyard. Preliminary reports indicate that a Skoda Rapid struck the young girl around 6 p.m. two days ago.
The victim sustained internal injuries and is currently in serious condition, receiving treatment in the intensive care unit.
The abandoned Skoda was discovered the following morning on Olga Forsh Street. The vehicle is registered to a St. Petersburg resident; however, his 54-year-old son, a university associate professor, is being questioned in connection with the hit-and-run. He has been issued a citation for leaving the scene of an accident.
