The Kalininsky District Court of St. Petersburg has registered the first criminal case for violating the procedure for the activities of a foreign agent. The defendant is Alexander Voronov, the head of the LGBT organization “Vykhod,” who was arrested in absentia in April.
Voronov is accused of intentionally failing to provide legally required information to the authorized body regarding his activities as a foreign agent. The alleged violation occurred from August 1, 2024, while he was in an unspecified location.
This case marks the first criminal prosecution of its kind in St. Petersburg. Voronov had previously been brought to administrative justice twice within a year under Part 2 of Article 19.34 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation for similar violations.
The case file has now been transferred to the judge. It was previously reported that Voronov has been on the interstate wanted list since the end of March. His organization, “Vykhod,” relocated to Europe in 2022.
