A fire in a St. Petersburg apartment, sparked by indoor shish kebab grilling, led to two residents requiring medical attention. The incident occurred in a three-room apartment at 3 Lva Matsievicha Square in the Primorsky district.
The fire, which engulfed an area of 10 square meters within the 60-square-meter apartment, originated in the corridor.
Emergency services responded quickly, with three crews extinguishing the blaze in approximately half an hour.
A 38-year-old resident, who was grilling shish kebabs inside the apartment, suffered a forearm burn and smoke poisoning. He was admitted to the Dzhanelidze Research Institute of Emergency Medicine and his condition is assessed as moderate.
A 65-year-old woman, the man’s mother, also inhaled smoke and was placed in intensive care. Preliminary reports indicate that both individuals were intoxicated at the time of the incident.
