A 48-year-old man has died following a taxi accident in St. Petersburg’s Petrogradsky district, prompting a criminal investigation. The incident occurred on Petrovsky Prospekt on the morning of August 1.
The victim, who was struck by an Omoda car, succumbed to his injuries in the hospital, according to the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region.
The accident took place at 7:02 am near house 24, building 1 on Petrovsky Prospekt. A 40-year-old taxi driver in an Omoda struck the pedestrian as he stood near a Hyundai Sonata, having just opened the driver’s side door. The injured man was immediately transported to the hospital in a state of clinical death.
Following the initial impact, the Omoda then collided with a parked BMW before overturning. Video footage of the accident has surfaced. The taxi driver sustained moderate injuries as a result of the crash.
