A woman has died, and a 13-year-old boy is in serious condition following a fire in an apartment building on Adrien Lezhena Street in Novosibirsk’s Dzerzhinsky district. The fire broke out overnight on June 7 in an apartment on the fourth floor of the building located at 13 Adrien Lezhena Street.

The Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the Novosibirsk Region has launched an investigation into the incident. Investigators from the Dzerzhinsky district department are currently conducting a preliminary inquiry to determine the circumstances surrounding the fire.

The fire department initially reported evacuating a woman and a 15-year-old from the burning apartment using an aerial ladder. They also rescued a woman and a 13-year-old boy, who showed no signs of life, from a separate room within the apartment.

The 13-year-old boy was immediately hospitalized due to his critical condition, but the woman could not be revived. A man with burns on his back managed to escape the apartment independently but declined medical treatment.

Forensic examinations have been ordered to determine the precise cause of the woman’s death and the origin of the fire. Authorities are urging anyone with information about the incident to contact them. Once the investigation is complete, a formal decision will be made regarding the case.
