Farewell Ceremony for Aquarium Band Co-Founder Anatoly Gunitsky to be Held on June 11th

A farewell ceremony for Anatoly “George” Gunitsky, the co-founder of the iconic Aquarium band, is scheduled to take place on June 11th at the St. Petersburg Crematorium. The ceremony will begin at 11:45 AM, allowing friends, family, and fans to pay their respects to the influential poet, musician, and rock journalist.

Following the ceremony, a wake will be held at 2:00 PM at the FishFabrique club, located in the Pushkinskaya, 10 art center. This gathering will provide an opportunity for attendees to celebrate Gunitsky’s life and legacy in a more informal setting.

Gunitsky passed away on June 5th at the age of 71. His contributions to the Aquarium band were immense, with his absurdist-style poems forming the backbone of many of their most beloved songs. These songs appeared on albums such as “The Temptation of Saint Aquarium,” “Minuet to the Farmer,” and “Parables of Count Diffusor,” among others. His unique lyrical style also featured prominently in “Triangle,” “Ballooning in the Company of Sphinxes,” “George’s Songs,” and various side projects, as well as works by other performers, solidifying his place as a pivotal figure in the Russian rock scene.
