Seven people are dead and more than 70 injured following a train derailment in the Bryansk region due to a bridge collapse. A reserve train carrying passengers from the affected train arrived at Kievsky railway station in Moscow on Sunday morning, where a large contingent of medical personnel awaited them.
Passengers recounted the chaotic scene during the emergency, with some describing being thrown from their berths and sustaining injuries. One passenger recalled people screaming for help from a car that had overturned.
Other passengers reported feeling several sharp jolts before the lights went out and screams erupted from neighboring cars. Rescuers and doctors reportedly arrived quickly at the scene to provide assistance.
One eyewitness described a woman with a broken collarbone and another with an arm injury, while another said their arm was injured. Another passenger said that they experienced a sharp brake and that it was unclear what had happened. Injured passengers were taken to a temporary accommodation center, where a conductor with broken ribs was transported to the hospital by ambulance.
Relatives of passengers also arrived at Kievsky railway station seeking information. One woman was meeting her grandmother, who was traveling to work.
Children injured in the bridge collapse will be transported to Moscow for further medical care. The incident occurred on the night of June 1 when the Klimov – Moscow passenger train derailed after passing under the collapsed bridge.
