The expansion of the northern section of the Yekaterinburg Ring Road (EKAD), specifically from the 10th to the 24th kilometer, is set to begin. This reconstruction project aims to address the outdated and congested section of the Northern Ring, which currently struggles to handle the existing traffic flow.
The project will occur in four stages. The updated Rezhevskaya interchange will provide convenient access to the Ural Transport and Logistics Center, and will also provide a connection with Promyshlenny Proezd.
The first stage involves reconstructing the road from the 10th to the 12th kilometer. The most interesting object in the second stage will be the reconstruction of the interchange at the 13th kilometer.
The third stage is still in the design phase but includes constructing a three-level interchange at the intersection of EKAD with the Berezovsky highway. The construction of a three-level interchange will be a serious professional challenge for designers, builders, and the customer.
The fourth stage focuses on reconstructing the road from the 22nd to the 24th kilometer, which includes transforming the existing interchange into a full “cloverleaf” design. Instead of a two-lane road, six lanes for traffic will be built with the separation of oncoming traffic flows.
