European wildcat kittens are delighting visitors at the Novosibirsk Zoo with their playful antics. The young felines have been observed engaging in typical kitten behavior, including playfully attacking their mother, sparring with each other, interacting with their environment, and honing their claw-sharpening skills.
A video capturing the kittens’ activities was shared on social media by a zoo visitor. The footage shows the kittens wrestling with their mother as she attempts to groom them, playfully chasing each other, climbing on trees, and scratching at the bark.
According to the Novosibirsk Zoo’s Telegram channel, European wildcats share a close genetic relationship with domestic cats. The zoo has maintained a population of these wildcats since 1981 and has successfully bred them since 1982. Over the years, more than 60 kittens have been born at the facility.
Recently, the kittens were seen climbing onto a spruce branch, prompting their mother to carefully guide one of them down from the elevated position.
