Entrepreneur Questions Why Young People Complain About Low Income But Don’t Want to Work

Tyumen entrepreneur Sergey Kharin is questioning why many young, healthy individuals complain about low incomes while seemingly unwilling to take available jobs. Kharin, who owns a bakery and other businesses, struggles to find employees, particularly bakers, sellers, and loaders, despite offering competitive salaries. He reflects on the apparent lack of desire to work among the younger generation.

Kharin recalls a time when finding employees in Tobolsk was easy, with young people eager to work and learn. He contrasts this with the current situation, where he claims that the new generation seems apathetic and uninterested in pursuing traditional employment. He notes his loaders can earn between 80,000 and 90,000 rubles per month, and sellers around 70,000 rubles for 160 hours per month.

He criticizes the education system, suggesting colleges aren’t adequately preparing students for the workforce or connecting them with job opportunities. He also expresses frustration with the employment center, claiming that they are not proactive in matching job seekers with available positions, including those with disabilities.

Kharin recounts his own journey, starting from humble beginnings, and emphasizes the importance of hard work and determination. He expresses concern about the challenges facing small businesses due to taxes and competition from larger corporations. Despite these challenges, he believes that if he faced financial hardship, he would find a way to start over and succeed. He contrasts his drive with what he sees as a lack of ambition in today’s youth.
