An 87-year-old woman died after being struck by a freight train at a railway crossing in the Pskov region. The incident occurred around 9:00 AM on Monday in Sushchevo, Bezhanitsky district.

The woman was reportedly crossing the tracks against a red light when she was hit. Despite the train driver’s attempts to alert her with loud signals and initiating emergency braking, a collision was unavoidable.

The elderly woman sustained fatal injuries as a result of the impact. Transport police officers in Velikiye Luki are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident.
