An elderly couple was injured and hospitalized after drone debris fell on their property in the “Yubileiny” horticultural partnership near Istra in the Moscow region. The incident occurred on Saturday, June 7th, during a massive UAV attack on the Moscow region, in which nine drones were shot down.

The couple sustained injuries from shrapnel and metal balls scattered by the impact of the drone debris. The wife, Elena, 60, underwent surgery to remove a fragment from her body, while her husband, 64, suffered moderate injuries.

According to residents, they were awakened in the morning by the sound of an engine followed by a crash. The debris damaged houses and property in the area. One resident, Alexander, whose house is across the road from the injured couple, said his house was damaged with the drone engine in his yard.

The district administration has promised to provide assistance to the affected residents and help assess the damage. Alexander is currently clearing the rubble and repairing the damage to his property.
