Ginger mushrooms are expected to appear in the Sverdlovsk region in the coming days due to recent frosts, although a large harvest is not anticipated. The unseasonal weather conditions have prompted early growth of several mushroom varieties.
Mushroom meteorologist Sergei Kopylov noted that the late May frost will stimulate the growth of cold-loving mushrooms. He specified that aside from ginger mushrooms, boletes, milk mushrooms, russula, and boletus may also appear. In areas experiencing more intense and prolonged frost, even the local appearance of autumn mushrooms is possible.
Despite the early emergence of some species, a widespread mushroom boom is not foreseen due to limited rainfall. This suggests that the overall harvest in the forests will remain modest.
Earlier in May, the first boletus mushrooms were spotted in the Urals. Additionally, a rare Red Book mushroom, spherical sarcosoma, was discovered near Nizhny Tagil. This mushroom is known for its mucus-like interior, which is believed to have rejuvenating properties and is sometimes applied to the skin.
Reports from April indicated the initial appearance of mushrooms in Yekaterinburg. A local resident recently collected a basket of morels. It is crucial to understand the proper preparation methods for morels and other unusual mushrooms before consumption. Individuals should also be aware of who should avoid eating mushrooms altogether.
