A 16-year-old college student is hospitalized with moderate injuries after crashing a pit bike while intoxicated in the Kirishi district of the Leningrad region. The incident occurred near the 52nd kilometer railway platform at approximately 5 a.m.
The teenager, a resident of the Kalininsky district of St. Petersburg, was riding a Regulmoto without a license when he lost control and collided with a fence. He sustained a closed head injury and a scalp laceration and was subsequently transported to a hospital.
Law enforcement officials are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash. The teenager faces penalties for operating a vehicle without a license, driving under the influence, and not wearing a helmet.
His mother is also facing legal repercussions for allowing someone without a license to operate the pit bike. She is being charged under Article 12.7 of the Code of Administrative Offenses, which addresses the transfer of vehicle control to an unauthorized individual.
