Multiple drones attacked the Moscow region early Friday morning, leading to temporary closures and disruptions at major airports. Operational services are responding to the debris crash sites after the attack, which triggered the implementation of the “Carpet” plan at Domodedovo, Vnukovo, and Zhukovsky airports.
The airports have temporarily suspended accepting and dispatching flights to ensure the safety of air travel. Flightradar data indicated a significant reduction in air traffic over the capital.
The initial reports confirmed the downing of six drones around 03:44 Moscow time. Shortly after, the Mayor of Moscow, Sergei Sobyanin, announced that three additional drones had been intercepted. The total number of UAVs reportedly destroyed over the Moscow region quickly rose to ten.
Emergency services personnel are currently at the locations where debris from the downed drones fell.
