Ukraine has launched a series of drone attacks targeting airfields across five regions of Russia, including for the first time, the Siberian region of Irkutsk. The Russian Ministry of Defense confirmed the coordinated assault, labeling it a terrorist attack perpetrated by the Kyiv regime using first-person view (FPV) drones.
The attacks, which occurred across the Murmansk, Irkutsk, Ivanovo, Ryazan, and Amur regions, primarily targeted military airfields. Russian forces successfully repelled the drone strikes in the Ivanovo, Ryazan, and Amur regions, minimizing damage and disruption.
However, in the Murmansk and Irkutsk regions, the attacks resulted in fires affecting several units of aviation equipment. The Russian Ministry of Defense reported that the FPV drones were launched from territory in close proximity to the airfields, facilitating the strikes.
Firefighters have extinguished the blazes caused by the drone attacks. Authorities have also detained some individuals believed to be involved in the attacks.
The Russian Ministry of Defense has stated that there were no casualties among military or civilian personnel as a result of the attacks.
