A bill proposing additional paid leave for employees with three or more children is set to be submitted to the State Duma. The initiative, spearheaded by State Duma deputy Sergei Mironov and State Duma Vice-Speaker Alexander Babakov, aims to provide further support for large families.
The legislation, slated for consideration on Monday, June 2, suggests granting up to 14 calendar days of annual additional paid leave to employees with three or more children, until the eldest child turns 18.
According to the explanatory note, the leave can be taken at a time convenient for the employee. Furthermore, employees can choose to combine this additional leave with their main leave or use it separately, either in full or in parts, upon written request. The bill specifies that the leave cannot be carried over to the following working year.
Mironov emphasized that the initiative is designed to ease the burden on large families and promote a healthy balance between work and raising children.
The State Duma has previously explored other measures to support families, including a proposal to establish a system of children’s savings accounts with an initial contribution of 100,000 rubles from the federal budget for each newborn.
