Dmitry Ostrovsky, a photographer from Chelyabinsk, has been captivating the city of Ufa with his vintage camera and instant photo development. He is currently on a tour to document the country, sharing his unique perspective with locals.

Ostrovsky, recognizable by his beard and hat, has been spending the past week exploring Ufa and interacting with its residents. He uses his old camera to take photographs and then develops them on the spot, handing them out immediately.

He started his photography journey with a digital camera but became fascinated with the history of photography and vintage equipment. His collection includes cameras that may have even been around during the time of Emperor Nicholas II and Vladimir Lenin.

Ufa is the first stop on a larger tour of the country for Ostrovsky. His goal is to capture an authentic portrait of Russia and its people. He is planning a trip to Vladivostok next year.

The photographer’s rapid photo development process is part of what makes his work so engaging.
