An investigation is underway after a display case collapsed in a jewelry store at the “Continent” shopping complex in St. Petersburg on Stachek Avenue, injuring visitors. The Investigative Committee has initiated a probe into the incident under Article 238 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, concerning the provision of services that do not meet safety requirements. The Kirovsky District Prosecutor’s Office is also conducting its own investigation.
Two individuals, a 46-year-old man and a 36-year-old woman, sought medical attention at the trauma department following the collapse. The man was treated for bruises and abrasions on his forearm and hand. The woman sustained bruises on her thighs, including contusions on one thigh.
The management company, “Adamant,” stated that the tenant of the store did not immediately inform them about the incident. According to the tenant’s information, “there were no casualties”.
