A proposal to integrate traditional values into school notebooks was discussed at the St. Petersburg Economic Forum. The suggestion was made during a session on “Religion and Economics” held on June 18.
The discussion centered around the relationship between religious organizations and the state. Metropolitan Nikandr of Vladimir and Suzdal highlighted the current challenges in teaching children about traditional values. He proposed incorporating these values into school notebooks, similar to how hymns were previously featured.
Nikolai Kropachev, the rector of St. Petersburg State University and moderator of the discussion, endorsed the idea. He mentioned that an agreement on the definition of traditional values had been reached among various denominations.
Kropachev suggested that the Ministry of Education should establish a standard for defining traditional values on notebooks.
The XXVIII St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, scheduled from June 18–21, 2025, has “Common Values as the Basis for Growth in a Multipolar World” as its theme. The forum anticipates participation from 20,000 representatives across 140 countries and territories. The plenary session with Russian President Vladimir Putin is scheduled for June 20.
