Disabled Person Denied Entry to Novosibirsk Summer Festival

A disabled individual was refused entry to the NOVOSIBIRSK SUMMER FEST 2025 in Novosibirsk, sparking outrage and raising questions about accessibility at public events. According to reports, the man, who uses a wheelchair, was denied access by security personnel despite having purchased a ticket.

The incident occurred at a venue on Fabrichnaya Street, which organizers had rented for the festival. The disabled man’s companion, identified as Sergey, stated that their friend was deeply distressed by the situation and that they were not provided with a satisfactory explanation. They requested to speak with an administrator, who then contacted the organizer.

The organizer allegedly refused entry to the man, citing a policy against allowing wheelchair users into the event. Sergey emphasized that this restriction was not disclosed during the ticket purchase process.

While a refund was issued for the ticket, Sergey noted that it did not compensate for the emotional distress caused by the incident. Efforts to reach the festival organizers for comment through their VKontakte page have been unsuccessful as of the time of reporting.

The festival’s Telegram channel indicates that entry may be denied if staff members have concerns about a guest’s mental state or suspect intoxication. The organizer also asserts the right to refuse service without providing a reason.

The loft quarter on Fabrichnaya Street clarified that they only leased the space for the festival and are not otherwise involved in its management. This incident follows a previous complaint from a Novosibirsk resident who claimed he was denied entry to a bar for wearing felt boots.
