Eight individuals, including three traffic police officers and five employees of a towing service, have been detained in Novosibirsk on suspicion of abuse of power and petty bribery. The Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the Novosibirsk region is handling the case.

The alleged offenses occurred between January and March in the Zayeltsovsky district. The suspects are accused of colluding to solicit bribes from drivers in exchange for not issuing parking violation tickets or towing their vehicles.

The internal security department of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Novosibirsk region uncovered the alleged scheme.

Currently, the detained individuals are awaiting a court decision to determine their preventive measure. The prosecutor’s office of the Zayeltsovsky district is overseeing the criminal case investigation.

This incident follows a separate case in late May, where a traffic inspector in Novosibirsk was apprehended for accepting a bribe from a Porsche driver and subsequently taken into custody.
