Demolition Begins on Unfinished School in Plyushchikhinsky Residential Area

Part of an unfinished school in the Plyushchikhinsky residential area of Novosibirsk is being dismantled. The demolition, which began on June 13, involves the removal of certain structures of the concession school located on Tatyana Snezhina Street.

According to Roman Telenchinov, Deputy Governor of the region, the decision to dismantle part of the built elements of all concession schools was made due to the disrepair of some installed structures. The foundation and elements in good condition will be preserved for future construction.

Local residents report that the dismantling is generating significant noise in the area. The demolition is focused on the kindergarten side of the building, with workers and heavy equipment present at the site.

The project to build six schools in Novosibirsk under a concession agreement was initiated in December 2021. The original concessionaire, LLC “Fifth Concession Company “Prosveshchenie””, received 3.1 billion rubles from federal and regional budgets. The schools were initially scheduled to open at the end of 2023, but the deadlines were not met.

A new concessionaire, LLC “New School,” has been contracted to carry out the dismantling work.

The founder of SB Capital, the previous concessionaire, Otto Sopronenko, was detained on May 15 of the previous year on suspicion of large-scale fraud. He is accused of embezzling 3.1 billion rubles, and the investigation is ongoing.
