New dedicated public transport lanes have been introduced on Kosmonavtov Avenue in Yekaterinburg. The lanes, marked by solid lines, aim to prioritize buses and trolleybuses along a busy stretch of road.

The dedicated lanes span a 1.4 km section from Mashinostroiteley Street to Ilyicha Street, operating in both directions. This initiative is part of a broader transport reform plan in the city, designed to improve public transportation efficiency.

Motorists have expressed concerns about potential traffic congestion resulting from the new lanes. Similar projects implemented on Lenin Avenue and Malysheva Street have not led to significant disruptions, offering a degree of reassurance.

The regional Ministry of Transport will determine whether the dedicated lanes will be monitored by cameras. The city plans to significantly expand the network of dedicated lanes by 2026, with an additional 42 sections (20 kilometers) to be added. This would effectively double the priority given to public transportation routes within Yekaterinburg.
