Death of Maria Mordasova, Singer of Ministry of Internal Affairs Ensemble “Gornitsa”

Maria Mordasova, a 38-year-old soloist with the Ministry of Internal Affairs ensemble “Gornitsa,” has died in Moscow following complications from injuries she sustained after allegedly being beaten and raped in her apartment. Law enforcement officials are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding her death.

Mordasova was hospitalized on May 19 from a friend’s apartment, suffering from rib fractures, cerebral edema, and chest injuries. She informed police that she had been attacked in her Shcherbinka apartment a week prior.

Despite medical intervention, Mordasova passed away on May 21. Her father confirmed that law enforcement is investigating the case.

Mordasova had a long history with the “Gornitsa” ensemble, participating since childhood and continuing after graduating from the Gnesins Music School. She actively participated in charity events for veterans and families of fallen officers. Colleagues remember her as a talented artist, kind friend, and wonderful mother.

In 2019, Mordasova was deprived of parental rights to her daughter and spent four years in court attempting to regain them. The Troitsky Court ultimately denied her petition in 2023. She frequently posted photos of her daughter on social media, expressing her love.

Details regarding the farewell ceremony have not yet been announced.
