St. Petersburg experienced significant rainfall on June 9th, with the Cyclone “Weiss” delivering approximately 22% of the city’s average monthly rainfall in a single day. The Leningrad Region fared even worse, with some areas receiving 86% of their total monthly rainfall norm in that same 24-hour period.
The village of Belogorka, located in the Gatchina district, was particularly affected, recording 63 mm of precipitation – equivalent to 86% of its average June rainfall. Other areas experiencing heavy rains on Monday included Sosnovo, Kirishi, Volosovo, Novaya Ladoga and Kingisepp.
Rainfall is expected to continue in St. Petersburg through Monday night, with conditions improving by Tuesday morning.
