Cyclone Leaves Leningrad Region, Heads Towards White Sea

St. Petersburg is experiencing improved weather conditions as a cyclone that impacted the Leningrad region moves towards the White Sea. While the atmospheric front continues to bring rain to eastern and southern areas of the Leningrad region, precipitation has ceased in St. Petersburg, with no further rain expected today.

According to the city’s chief weatherman, Alexander Kolesov, skies are clearing over Finland and the Gulf of Finland, and sunshine is anticipated soon. The wind will remain westerly, maintaining temperatures in St. Petersburg at a comfortable 17-19 degrees Celsius.

This temperature is a welcome change after the previous day’s cooler conditions, where the maximum temperature reached only 14-15 degrees Celsius, significantly below the climatic norm. Kolesov noted that June 9 was particularly rainy, with air temperatures almost three degrees below normal.

Looking ahead, further improvement in the weather is expected, with temperatures rising to the usual 20-23 degrees Celsius for this time of year and a significant decrease in precipitation in St. Petersburg. The weather forecaster also indicated a shift in the movement of cyclones, suggesting that previously anticipated rains for tomorrow evening are unlikely to occur.

The forecast for Russia Day on June 12 is also promising. Instead of prolonged rains, short-term and localized precipitation is now expected, resulting in a “more decent” day with temperatures around 20 degrees Celsius.
