Crowds at Vorontsovskaya Station Due to Escalator Repair

Due to escalator repairs at the Vorontsovskaya station on Moscow’s Big Circle Line (BCL), passengers experienced significant crowding on Wednesday evening. The congestion occurred in the passageway and at the escalators as commuters attempted to navigate the station.

Readers reported that the density of people made it difficult to move through the station. Passengers found themselves packed onto the platform and queuing at the escalators.

The Moscow Metro has confirmed that the crowding is a direct result of planned escalator maintenance.

The repair work, which affects the escalator leading to the Kaluzhsko-Rizhskaya line, is scheduled to last from June 4th to June 9th, 2025. The metro authorities acknowledged that the number of passengers might increase temporarily during peak hours due to the reduced escalator capacity.

Commuters have been advised to consider alternative routes to avoid the congestion during the repair period. Previously, residents have voiced concerns about overcrowding in passageways between busy metro lines and changes to planned closures on the orange line.
