A 35-year-old driver is facing criminal charges after allegedly assaulting a taxi driver in Kudrovo and being found in possession of explosives. The Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region announced the charges on May 30, which include hooliganism and the transportation and storage of explosives.
The incident unfolded on May 29 at the entrance to Kudrovo, after a road conflict arose when a taxi driver did not yield to a Chevrolet attempting to overtake the taxi in a narrowed section of the road.
The driver of the Chevrolet then physically attacked the taxi driver, with the assault captured on video and subsequently circulated online.
Police detained the Chevrolet driver, who exhibited signs of drug use, along with two female passengers. A subsequent inspection of the vehicle revealed a live F-1 grenade.
While the women received administrative penalties for drug use, authorities are currently determining the appropriate measure of restraint for the male driver.
