A criminal case on terrorism has been initiated after an explosion damaged railway tracks in the Voronezh region, causing train delays and disruptions. The Russian Investigative Committee confirmed the incident on Thursday, June 5, stating that the Main Investigation Department will handle the case.
The explosion resulted in damage to the railway track, leading to the temporary stoppage of several trains. Fortunately, authorities were able to avert any tragic outcomes due to the quick and efficient response of professionals, according to Governor Alexander Gusev.
Russian Railways reported that train traffic has resumed on both tracks of the Evdakovo-Saguny section following a thorough inspection and repair of the damaged area. The incident occurred on the morning of June 5 when a train driver noticed minor damage to the tracks, prompting immediate action.
The Federal Security Service (FSB) reported that the railway was deliberately blown up. The emergency caused delays for over 25 trains. Law enforcement agencies are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
